Republic Airline, based in Indianapolis, operates a fleet of 180 Embraer 170/175 aircraft and offers scheduled passenger service with 900 daily flights to 100 cities in 35 U.S. states, Canada, the Caribbean and Central America.  The airline provides fixed-fee flights operated under our major airline partner brands of American Eagle, Delta Connection and United Express.

Duties and Responsibilities



Oversees, leads and ensures the successful delivery of the organizational objectives, responsibilities, processes, and procedures for the Engineering department. 



  1. Ensures the quality standards set forth in the Engineering Procedures Manual (EPM) and the applicable airline's General Maintenance Manual (GMM) are met and are revised as necessary to ensure the highest level of safety and compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs).
  2. Ensures the Engineering department provides effective technical support to all Company departments that require assistance.
  3. Directs the Company's Reliability Section to analyze trends, perform reliability analyses, and resolve problems.
  4. Directs the Company's Maintenance Programs section to, providing timely, clear, and accurate maintenance program documents and managing the Maintenance Program in the airlines maintenance software on behalf of the airline.
  5. Directs the Departments Fleet Management section to ensure configuration of the aircraft and the company’s maintenance tracking software is updated and aircraft entering or leaving the fleet are properly reviewed and managed.
  6. Fosters positive communications and coordination with Line and Heavy maintenance, Maintenance Control, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Flight Dispatch, and Station Operations to ensure continuing safe aircraft for scheduled operations.
  7. Directs the Fleet Management section, ensuring oversight of new/lease aircraft acceptance and exit processes.
  8. Directs reliability improvement activities to support airline operations, as required.
  9. Reviews and approves engineering documentation for clarity, quality, and proper approval basis.
  10. Analyzes aircraft lease requirements and recommends necessary program or schedule changes to meet those requirements relative to area of responsibility.
  11. Interacts and interfaces with applicable departments to optimize the airline’s Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP).  Interfaces with Maintenance organization management, outside repair agencies, and support organizations relative to area of responsibilities.
  12. Manages the department’s budget.
  13. Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
  14. Screens, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring potential employees.  Coaches and provides leadership, direction, motivation and supervision of direct reports.  Appraises performance, provides performance feedback, takes corrective actions and oversees training and development of staff.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Aeronautical Engineering (any discipline) or a related technical field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • At least 4 years of experience in 14 CFR Part 121 Engineering and/or Technical Service departments or directly related work experience
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience. 
  • Requires a thorough understanding and working knowledge of all appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of 14 CFR. (i.e., Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91,and 121) and manuals required by 14 CFR Parts 121 and 133. 
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
  • FCC Level 1 License. Six Sigma or Lean Processes, certificate, preferred. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. 
  • Makes decisions on long-term objectives, resources and policies.  Has one of the highest levels of decision making authority.  Decisions have the most impact across and outside of organization along with the maximum cost implications to the organization. 
  • Able to move about the work environment. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. Able to lift or move up to 10 pounds occasionally.   
  • May be required to work in open airplane hangars up to 10% of the time.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, night shift, and overtime, as required. 
  • Travel up to 25% of the time, including overnight stays.
