Duties and Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

Successfully manage and implements multiple concurrent projects with $100k to $5 million development budgets. Assists with Project Management Office (PMO) duties including Mentoring PMs, resource planning, project budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating delivery. Manages and drives vendor relationships.

  1. Manages complex projects or multiple enterprise and multi-vendor projects in a mixed matrix and functional organization by creating project schedules, verifying requirements, high-level design, technical design and development, test plans, and implementation plans.
  2. Collaborates with Executive level leaders and all levels of Management to implement enterprise projects.
  3. Provides team Leadership to drive delivery to meet business objectives on time and on budget.
  4. Leads and/or facilitates project status meetings, and communicates project and budget status to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  5. Participates in delivering training for IT personnel; ensures training materials are updated and maintained to be current and in accord with IT Methodology.
  6. Gathers project information and maintains a list of current project activity for IT, including enterprise-wide project timeframes (Gantt charts) and resource utilization; measures and reports on IT performance in delivering project-based services.
  7. Tracks project budget and actual spend and provides project steering committees with estimate to complete on project schedule and budget.
  8. Mentors and coaches project teams.  Plans and schedules work assignments to project team members
  9. Provides technical leadership to team and department members.  Leads through example; monitors, influences and trains others.  Provides input to supervisor on performance reviews and helps to identify development needs.

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • 7 years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Enterprise Project Management, Microsoft Project Web Access and other Microsoft applications.
  • Experience with project environments including, SDLC, SCRUM, Web Services, Relational Databases – SQL, MySQL.
  • Familiar with development languages and requirements elicitation techniques and the SDLC and
    Agile processes.
  • Ability to effectively deliver in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment.
  • Previous experience managing complex concurrent enterprise multi-vendor projects.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Previous airline experience.  SCRUM certification.  Training in Six Sigma processes.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients, customers, and the general team members.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Excellent time management skills.

 

        DECISION MAKING

Makes decisions daily on use of resources, performance and budgets.  Decisions could require additional expenditure of resources if not sound decisions.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
