Duties and Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

Manage associates and processes for timely preparation and distribution of financial and operational information to enhance accuracy and transparency in decision-making.  Drive clarity in the reporting of monthly budget, actual or other results and transformation of data into a streamlined and sustainable reporting tool. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Manages the review and preparation of internal financial reporting package for both financial and operational data supporting internal and external distributions.
  2. Teams with department leads to develop enterprise-wide reporting tools focused on monitoring entity-level and department-level key performance indicators (KPI).
  3. Works with department VPs to provide meaningful information to operate the business.
  4. Coordinates and reviews operational information for internal and external distribution.
  5. Develops operational, profitability, expense, and other key performance metrics to help business leaders understand the health of business and assist in developing action plans for improvement and optimizing their financial results. Role includes creation of new reporting mechanisms, including report-writing for in-process Workday Finance System implementation.
  6. Evaluates and interprets high data volumes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and validity.
  7. Teams with business partners to enhance current reporting requirements, operationalizing and automating current information needs.
  8. Conducts and supports ad-hoc analyses on issues throughout Company as assigned.
  9. Collaborates with Finance and other functions to support overall reporting requirements.
  10. Communicates with senior management and executive levels with confidence and composure, emphasizing responsiveness.
  11. Applies continuous improvement mindset to strengthen processes, minimize time requirements, and enhance procedures in assigned areas.
  12. Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
  13. Screens, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring potential associates. Coaches and provides leadership, direction, motivation and supervision of direct reports. Appraises performance, provides performance feedback, takes corrective actions and oversees training and development of staff.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) in Accounting, Finance or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 - 7 years related accounting experience with knowledge and experience with GAAP and SEC requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including excel add-in technologies.
  • Agility with data manipulation, modeling, architecture and interpretation.
  • Strong analytical skills. Detail oriented nature and strong proficiency with complex contract interpretation.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to represent the Company among our airline partners.

 

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Experience in Financial Reporting.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience in Tableau, Cognos, SQL reporting tools and Microsoft Power BI.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical publications, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

DECISION MAKING

Makes limited decisions and determines best methods to solve problems by referring to established precedents and policies.  Impact of decisions is moderately low.
