Duties and Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE:

Architects, designs, implements, monitors, reports, and maintains IP Telephony Systems, LANs, WANs, and wireless networks for the Company.  Troubleshoots and resolves issues pertaining to IP Telephony Systems, LANs, WANs and wireless networks to meet users' needs. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Architects, designs, implements, monitors, reports, and maintains IP Telephony Systems, LANs, WANs, and wireless networks for the Company.
  2. Designs and supports VoIP infrastructure and its associated software, including Cisco Call Manager, Cisco voice gateways, contact center and interactive voice response.
  3. Monitors, identifies, and mitigates capacity and performance issues for VoIP related traffic to ensure continued uninterrupted operation of telephony systems.
  4. Provides support for Cisco Contact Center infrastructure and its associated software.
  5. Manages network hardware and software vendors, as well as, network carriers; procurement, maintenance/support renewals, and contracts and administration.
  6. Manages various network projects collaborating with other IT and business units to determine requirements and meet project milestones.
  7. Creates and updates/maintains detailed network and system documentation of all corporate networks.
  8. Interacts with internal customers, internal IT, and vendors/contractors to ascertain problem/issue determination and resolution.
  9. Develops and support business initiatives from a voice, and networking perspective.
  10. Responds to internal service requests, change requests, incidents. Adheres to change management standard operating procedures.
  11. Ensures adherence to a departmental budget.
  12. Works on an on-call availability in the event of network/telecommunication malfunctions that impairs or threatens to impair the ability of the Company to conduct normal business.
  13. Provides technical leadership to team and department members. Leads through example; monitors, influences and trains others.  Provides input to supervisor on performance reviews and helps to identify development needs.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S) in Information Technology, Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5+ years combined experience in networking and also implementing IP Telephony systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Finesse, Cisco core and switches, Nexus (vBlock), Aruba controller and WAPs, Riverbed, Solarwinds, Scrutinizer, IOS configurations, TCP/IP, Ethernet, MPLS, GigE QOS, OSPF, BGP, ACL, STP, Vlan, VTP, HSRP, and Frame Relay, TACACS.
  • Certification as a Cisco Certified Network Professional Collaboration (CCNP) and Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP).
  • SIP, H323 and MGCP voice signaling protocol configuration experience is essential to this position

 

 

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./ B.S.) in Information Technology.
  • At least 8+ years related experience in Voice and Networking.
  • Certification in Cisco Certified Network Professional Collaboration (CCNP Collaboration), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and/or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP).
  • Knowledge of Cisco Jabber application is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Makes day to day decisions used to support strategic direction.  Decisions often require some thought and are somewhat structured.  Decisions tend to be short term and usually moderate cost.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
