Duties and Responsibilities


Serves as lead analyst in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting and the maintenance of systems relating to software and systems used by the System Operational Control, Flight Operations and Safety departments.  Leads and implements projects related to Enterprise Applications and Solutions Delivery.

  1. Leads the installation planning for hardware or application program requirements. Processes new software releases and/or patches and documentation for configuration management, infrastructure, and support services. Documents coding and design activities necessary for the proper installation, maintenance and operation of the software.  Identifies, implements, manages, and writes specifications for software enhancements and development.
  2. Leads and directs all necessary project phases for system implementations, enhancements to existing applications, and system upgrades—including functional requirements gathering, fit/gap analysis, functional design specifications, development/configuration activities, and execution of appropriate unit test scenarios and assist with issue resolution during user acceptance testing. Leads Quality Assurance with documentation of test script for unit testing and system testing.
  3. Performs full life cycle software development activities to include requirements definition, analysis, software design, software development, testing, and documentation. Document business processes, business requirements, technical designs, test cases, and other project lifecycle deliverables as required.
  4. Estimates and plans development work. Tracks and reports on task progress and delivers work on schedule. Provides regular status updates to management regarding ongoing projects, maintenance and systems support.
  5. Works within a structured development environment that includes Agile development methodology, version control, unit testing, creating builds/implementation plans, writing appropriate technical documentation, design/peer reviews, and other structured development practices.
  6. Facilitates and/or participates in functional and technical solution reviews with management, developers, architects, and business representatives. Collaborates with other technical staff to research, evaluate, develop, test, and implement new and/or currently unused functional and technical solutions to enhance the value of business systems.  Evaluates current and future leveragability of new functionality in anticipation of changing/evolving business needs and direction. Performs necessary due-diligence, analysis, and evaluation to determine project feasibility.
  7. Leads IT-related compliance requirements including control assessments and system documentation requirements.
  8. Analyzes and resolves production issues to the satisfaction of customers.
  9. Participates in root-cause investigation teams to improve processes and resolve issues. Analyzes and evaluates business flow processes. Provides functional expertise and direction specific to application functionality and business processes.
  10. Provides technical leadership to team and department members. Leads through example; monitors, influences and trains others.  Provides input to supervisor on performance reviews and helps to identify development needs.
  11. Works weekly on an on-call basis.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.



The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.



Specialty training beyond high school in Information Technology, Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  At least 3 years IT or Systems Operational Control related experience. 



Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.



Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



Makes limited decisions and determines best methods to solve problems by referring to established precedents and policies.  Impact of decisions is moderately low.






Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) in Information Technology.  At least 5 years related experience.
